Take Your Island Debit Mastercard® on Vacation

Pack your bags, leave your stress behind, and don’t forget your Island Debit Mastercard!. No matter if you are in Ireland or Islandia, you can earn cash back on everyday purchases when you pay with your Island Debit Mastercard! You can also view a record of every purchase in real time on your Island Mobile.

Get Cash While You Dash

While on the go, you’ll probably need cash as well. Island Federal Members have access to over 125,000 no-fee ATMs. That’s more than Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo COMBINED!

To make it exceptionally easy to find the closest ATM or branch, check out the ATM/branch locator on Island Mobile which includes driving directions, street views and hours as well as the maps of the closest credit union partner branches and ATMs, no matter where you are.

Final note: When you travel out of state or out of the country, please notify Island Federal a few days before you leave to ensure that we know that it is YOU using your Island cards, not a fraudster.

Have a wonderful summer and please post pictures!

“FUN”-DAMENTAL Financial Basics for Kids

Learning about finances doesn’t seem like the most exciting way for a child to spend a sunny afternoon, but summer is a great time to teach kids financial literacy! There’s more family time, opportunities for hands-on learning and everyday activities to put their learning into action. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Start with the Basics – by discussing earning, saving, spending, and giving. Use real life examples, e.g. shopping on a budget to saving for an upcoming vacation.
  2. Set up a summer Allowance System (ages 5 – 12) by assigning household tasks and let them earn funds for completing them.
  3. Take advantage of the Coin Counting Machines at all Island Federal branches that are free (and fun) for Members. These easy-to-use machines make it easy to deposit loose change in your account automatically.
  4. Open a Youth Savings account where a child up to age 16 can earn 5.00%APY on the first $500.

Or, if your kid is age 10 to 16, a Teen Checking Account where they can get a Debit Mastercard® and earn 0.25%APY on the first $500. Give your teen the freedom they want with the control you need.

Having their own personal Island Federal account is the best way to educate young people on the principles of money management.
